The R-Sys SLR was created for gran fondo racers and everyone who loves big mountain climbs. It’s the ultimate wheel for the KOM. It’s not only one of the few clincher wheelsets below the 1300g mark, but also the most laterally stiff, with proven strength and durability and superior braking performance.

R-Sys SLR is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rugged I've been riding these wheels for about four years, about 4,000 miles a year, and have found them truly bomb-proof. They're light, stiff, and fun to ride. Two drawbacks: (1) the pawls in the freehub wear out pretty frequently (I've had mine replaced twice); (2) the Exalith braking pads squeal. While I'm now used to the shrieking sound, it's so loud and high-pitched it scares nearby riders, especially on descents. I'll put up with those shortcomings for a strong, fast, durable wheelset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wheelset I purchased my Mavic R-SYS at Conrads Bike shop in NYC and love them. It feel quicker on my sprints but most of all I feel the difference climbing on the bridge. I love a good challenge on the bridge. I'm yet to try a time trial on my road bike. If I get a good weekend I will try them and post another review for those interested in my results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent endurance wheelset I bought a set on 08/2016, installed on a 2013 BMC GF01. Since then, I've put some ~9000 miles on them (I don't get as much saddle time as I'd like). Flats, climbing, descending, all with aplomb. Previously, the BMC had the Mavic Ksyrium Elite S wheelset, and while they were great, the R-Sys SLRs provided that extra ability to smooth out poor roads that really help this old guy's backside. The brakes did squeal when first installed, but I did a 'toe in" adjustment, and they are quiet as can be. During a group ride a few months back, another rider failed to call out a rather large chunk of asphalt, and I hit it, hard, with the front wheel. It made a terrible sound, but it took the abuse, and kept on going with no residual side effects. I just wish they made this same wheelset for disc brakes, as that's what my next bike will have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wheel Set for endurance riding 2000 miles in and love these wheels. Built up a 7 Ti and they came highly recommended by the shop and couldn't be happier with the choice. Light, stiff and true. Compliments the frame and Enve fork really well makes for a great riding experience. Been stuck on some nasty dirt roads and they held up like a champ.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great wheel, poor reliability on the hub I was one of the first people to buy this wheel when it originally came out. I have had the rear hub serviced 4 times since then because it would not freewheel. Now I am being told that they contacted Mavic and that they cannot repair the hub. I was told I need to purchase a new wheel. I also had broken a spoke at one point and was not able to replace just the spoke, but had to buy an entire set. While I really think these are great, both of these items make me wonder if I can recommend these wheels. I can tell you getting caught a long way from home with a wheel that won't freewheel is a big penalty because in that situation the chain won't stay on unless you are pedaling forward and do not stop pedaling. Then you add the cost of getting the hub serviced 4 times and now the new wheel.

Fore

Fore

Stiffer and stronger
Instead of being drilled, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside, then threaded to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it, leaving the upper rim bridge intact.

PowerLink

PowerLink

Low rolling resistance
A rear tyre, whether a clincher or a tubular, must fully liberate the wheel’s ability to transfer power and generate speed. Therefore, PowerLink tyres are optimized for rear wheel use, by minimizing the rolling resistance.

ISM 4D

ISM 4D

Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions
An exclusive Mavic patented concept, ISM 4D significantly reduces weight and inertia without compromising durability. Quicker accelerations, better handling and more resistance ; the right mix to make the most of any ride. The smooth profile also helps reducing aerodynamic drag

QRM SL

QRM SL

Qualité de Roulements Mavic Super Light
The super light bearings are designed having in mind the QRM strict specifications. The matching hub axles are machined within extremely narrow tolerances, then one by one adjusted with very high precision when assembled.

Exalith 2

Exalith 2

High braking performance
The Mavic exclusive Exalith 2 technology for aluminum rims has been refined to provide a very high level of durability and braking performance in all weather conditions.

Maxtal

Maxtal

Light and strong
Exclusive to Mavic, this specific aluminum alloy offers a higher strength to weight ratio than conventional 6106 alloy.

FTS-L

FTS-L

Force Transfer System Light
Reinforcement of key transmission components: the contact area between the pawl and the hub body is reinforced by 2 stainless steel inserts, which allows the use of a 100% aluminum hub body.

SUP

SUP

Stronger and smoother joint
Soudé Usiné Process. After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish.

GripLink

GripLink

Grip and control
A front tyre, whether a clincher or a tubular, must fully liberate the wheel’s ability to hold the ground and control the bike. Therefore, GripLink tyres are optimized for front use, by offering a superior grip and extra puncture protection.

Zicral

Zicral

Light, stiff and strong
A specific aluminum alloy that provides spokes with higher stiffness-to-weight ratio while being stronger.

Tracomp

Tracomp

Light & stiff traction compression. Extremely light Tracomp carbon fibre spokes works in traction and compression to provide a very high stiffness level in any circumstances.
