This SL version of the Ksyrium Pro Exalith pushes weight savings one step further, making it a high-performance choice that’s ultra-versatile. Fore technology and Zicral spokes boost stiffness and strength at a minimal weight. And our exclusive Exalith technology, a chemical treatment of the aluminum alloy, reduces braking distance by 20% in dry and wet conditions. The rim features ISM 4D technology to keep weight and inertia low. It also uses Tracomp technology, which stands for Traction/Compression. This was first introduced on the R-Sys wheel and allowed engineers to lower wheel weight by 10%, while boosting lateral stiffness 30%. Tracomp allows the spoke to work both in traction and compression. Instead of losing their tension under heavy loads (like climbing or sprinting), Tracomp spokes enter into compression and keep the wheel supported with a high lateral stiffness. The spokes are round and hollow (tubes) so they won’t buckle when compressed. They are clamped on both ends by a nipple that is bonded to the spoke and directly threaded into the rim’s Fore drilling and a ring inside the hub that locks the spoke head and prevents the spokes from travelling inside their slots. The spokes are carbon to save weight and add stiffness, since carbon fibers don’t stretch as much as steel or aluminum. And since these spokes don’t suffer a loss of tension, the overall spoke tension can be lower—which means the wheel components last longer. Tracomp spokes also dampen road vibration, and since they allow for a very wide wheel dish, the vertical compliance of the wheel improves comfort too. The result is a superlight 1355g wheelset with high lateral stiffness and a comfortable ride quality. Matching Yksion Pro tires, specifically designed for front and rear use, offer an ideal balance of efficiency, grip and light weight. Made with a supple 127 TPI casing, they weigh only 205g in 25mm. The Ksyrium Pro Exalith SL Wheel-Tire System is available with 23mm or 25mm tires.
