Our extensive experience designing mountain bike disc wheels gave us a big advantage in engineering the Ksyrium Pro Disc. The main difference with disc brakes is that brake forces move from the rim to the hub, farther away from the ground. Unlike a wheel with rim brakes, braking torque is distributed through the hub, spokes and lower rim before it reaches the ground. The braking load is also higher on the front wheel since the center of gravity is transferred to the front of the bike when it’s decelerating. Thus, the front wheel needs to be overbuilt with more spokes (24 instead of 18 or 20), and those spokes need to be crossed on each side of the wheel to make sure brake torque is evenly distributed. The rear wheel also needs 24 spokes, but since the braking torque is generally lower, we use Isopulse lacing (radial lacing on the drive side) to maintain a better balance of the spoke tension, thus greater stability and stiffness. Our unique ISM 4D technology (Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions) minimizes rim weight for better agility and reactivity when accelerating or braking. By removing extra material from the rim, we save weight without compromising strength. At only 1595g, the Ksyrium Pro Disc is a superlight choice for a disc brake-equipped road bike. The front wheel is fitted with a 25mm Yksion Pro Griplink tire for amazing cornering performance and the rear has our 25mm Yksion Pro Powerlink tire for low rolling resistance, superior traction and extra comfort. The front hub is convertible from 12mm to 15mm thru-axle or quick release. The rear wheel features the fast-engaging Drive 360 freewheel system. It comes with a 12x142 thru-axle and is convertible to quick release. The freewheel system is compatible with Shimano/SRAM and can be converted to Campagnolo or SRAM XD with optional driver bodies.

GripLink

GripLink

Grip and control
A front tyre, whether a clincher or a tubular, must fully liberate the wheel’s ability to hold the ground and control the bike. Therefore, GripLink tyres are optimized for front use, by offering a superior grip and extra puncture protection.

ISM 4D

ISM 4D

Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions
An exclusive Mavic patented concept, ISM 4D significantly reduces weight and inertia without compromising durability. Quicker accelerations, better handling and more resistance ; the right mix to make the most of any ride. The smooth profile also helps reducing aerodynamic drag

Isopulse

Isopulse

Optimum energy transfer
The spokes are laced radially on the drive side and crossed 2 on the non drive side to maximise drive side dish, thus providing a better spoke tension balance between left and right flanges.

PowerLink

PowerLink

Low rolling resistance
A rear tyre, whether a clincher or a tubular, must fully liberate the wheel’s ability to transfer power and generate speed. Therefore, PowerLink tyres are optimized for rear wheel use, by minimizing the rolling resistance.

Maxtal

Maxtal

Light and strong
Exclusive to Mavic, this specific aluminum alloy offers a higher strength to weight ratio than conventional 6106 alloy.

Fore

Fore

Stiffer and stronger
Instead of being drilled, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside, then threaded to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it, leaving the upper rim bridge intact.

Instant Drive 360

Instant Drive 360

The new Instant Drive 360 freewheel system is super light and fast to engage with only 9°. A large contactless rubber seal provides low friction, while a wide array of end caps makes it super versatile.

Zicral

Zicral

Light, stiff and strong
A specific aluminum alloy that provides spokes with higher stiffness-to-weight ratio while being stronger.

QRM+

QRM+

Qualité de Roulements Mavic +
Our most demanding level. Those cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance, and toped with a micro-adjustability system.

SUP

Stronger and smoother joint
Soudé Usiné Process. After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish.
