Whether you’re racing road or triathlon, hills or flats, the aero performance of your wheels is critical. That’s why Mavic engineers the wheel hub, rims, spokes and tire as a complete system and that’s why the CXR Ultimate 60 C is the fastest clincher wheelset available today. NACA (National Advisory Committee for Aerodynamics) determined the most aero airfoil profiles to minimize drag, and this was the starting point for our CX01 technology. Thanks to the CX01 Blades, the rim and tire are seamlessly integrated to slice through wind. The system is built around an Exalith rim that delivers the best braking performance and the 60mm carbon rim flange provides added stiffness and optimal aerodynamics. The spokes are slender and the hubs are built with low friction bearings. The CXR Ultimate clincher tires use frontand rear-specific materials and treads. The front is softer to improve grip, especially on wet surfaces, while the rear uses a harder compound to maximize rolling efficiency. And, most importantly, specific tread patterns reduce turbulence in the boundary layer (the thin layer of air on the surface of the tire) to calm airflow around the wheel and further minimize drag.
